Yui Toshiki is good mangaka but there is something not very nice with BnFnT release. There are some not properly colored areas in the pages. Here are some examples:

You can see, BnFnT is a little rough drawed compared with earlier works for example Kirara. Kirara (and IT) is better colored and digitally edited. Lines are here perfectly straight, lines around characters are more cleaned. No forgotten unfilled areas found. Just perfect work.

But in BnFnT, the buildings are all drawed with hand. No straight lines, but more wobble lines.
The filled areas has also trouble. You see enough forgotten areas. I think the color work is also done with hand. With sharp standleymes and grayscale sheets.
That means BnFnT is not made from the computer.

See the difference? Digitally added backgrounds and bubbles, but characters and buildings are with hand made.

Now somebody what see it corrected:

to

It makes indeed better view, but the fact that whole 5 volumes are rough drawed and not overall properly filled with grayscales, it makes for me too much work to correct all errors!

In respect for every mangaka work, i don't want fix the errors of every pages. Even it's very bad, i still want let it original.
If BnFnT comes licensed, i don't think the company fix all drawing errors. It's still possible, but not always. They can let it unchanged and original.

Correct all mistakes has one bad point: the readers starts to think Yui Toshiki drawed BnFnT perfectly without errors and all areas are good filled. That is just big misunderstandig. We have do the corrections.

My answer: i don't want fix the errors made by mangaka.
What is your answer or thoughts here?

My opinion is very simple: you don't touch the mangaka's work. All we should do is change the text into english (or any other language) and fix errors from scanning, and that's it.
If someone considers the mangaka's work bad enough to want to correct it, he or she should make his own manga then.

Uhhh... I'd say keep your hands off the mangaka's work. Unless you really have to.

My own project, "Family Compo" has already been through one set of hands in the Tonkam studio in France. There they've edited stuff like signs on buildings and such to translate them into French. I re-edit those signs to translate them into English. I don't touch Hōjō-san's character work though.

I can't quite agree with the above opinions.
The main purpose of scanlation/translation is to show the good and interesting parts of any piece of art to the people of other countries. Anything that lacks artistic value(most of SFX, some baubles that can't be made to fit the text, small errors in lines/coloring that make it look damaged) can and, if the appropriate resources(editors) are available, should be fixed to create the best version that can be achieved. If somebody wants to see the original art - they can support the mangaka and buy the original. That being said, probably it is better to do such fixes only if you have editors to spare(like 10 editors to one translator) and some of them are free... Same as coloring - until you catch up to the mangaka, priority goes to the quantity, not quality.

I think more that they let the Japanese work available for people outside Japan. So they can see interesting titles and read it. Not all people can read Japanese. Just looking on pictures don't follow the storyline good.

Mangaka first published volumes have some more errors. Fix it? No! When i fix it many errors, you don't see the real work of mangaka more and many people outside don't know about the mangaka works. They only see perfect works, and that is only misunderstanding. Touching another work is not good idea.

How many people know the mangaka good? If you clean and edit the pages too much, and original version is still bad, they never buy the originals. They want only use the perfectly edited pages. That is wrong way.

Thus, i want only thanslate here, not to make the pages better. And high quality 300 dpi TIFF pages bij Hawks is just too stupid. Why? With HQ pages, they never buy originals, because they can now print it by themselves thanks to high quality pages. *sigh*

Most people want only follow the storyline better. That is main purpose. Not to look at beautiful graphics. Not all manga titles are beautiful drawed. For example Lupin manga looks bad and rough drawed. This is real art of mangaka. If you don't like the artwork, go away.

In Lupin Manga, that "bad and rough drawed" has artistic value. - It serves a purpose to create a visual style. If you think that the same thing applies here, then keep the original "mistakes" - they are not. Although looking into anime and manga that speaks about mangakas(like Animation Runner Kurumi or Family Compo) makes me feel that most probably it is not so and it is just a bad work of an assistant/lack of such.Since the best person to ask is probably unavailable(I mean Toshiki Yui himself ), final word goes to you, as an editor...

You know, if someone corrected some mistake he found on Da vinci's painting of mona lisa, i don't think i would really appreciate watching this corrected painting.
